Ethereum funding on Bybit, explained
Bybit settles funding every 8 hours and is the venue most of FundingKai's data is sourced from. Maker rebates make it a low-cost home for limit-based carry.
Every eight hours, Bybit settles a payment between longs and shorts on the ETH/USDT perpetual. Positive funding means longs pay shorts; negative means shorts pay longs. We annualise the 8h figure (× 3 × 365) so it's comparable to the yields you'd see on a lending product.
Above ±10% annualised is loud — someone's paying real money to hold their side. Above ±25% rarely lasts more than a few days. Around zero, the rate is mostly noise and a carry's round-trip cost will eat any edge. Always check the cross-venue view before you commit — the loudest rate isn't always on Bybit.
